Evvie Mckinney is a 23 year old Pop/Gospel Singer born June 27th in Memphis, TN. She began singing at three years old, born to a musically inclined family, learning gospel music from her father, who was gospel and blues singer. She is one of seven children and also a graduate of the Soulsville Charter School. She is married to Everett Anderson, the couple tied the knot in 2020. In December 2020, Evvie and her husband announced that they were expecting.
Evvie is most recognized for having won the inaugural season of "The Four: Battle for Stardom in 2018." She entering the show as a challenger on the fifth episode in the first season, she performed for a panel judges that included, , , and Republic Records president . Having delivered powerful, nuanced versions of songs made famous by the likes of , , and , as well as the Oscar-winning song "Glory" by and . She won a record contract with the Republic when she was crowned champion in February 2018. She was already performing professionally across several genres as a 20-year-old, when she joined the Fox series.
Two years after her unexpected win, Evvie is poised to make her mark as a christian singer, having recently signed a deal with Motown’s Gospel label and Capitol’s CMG publishing. Being devout Christian her whole life, Evvie's career has been a testament to the power of her faith. “Growing up I chose to follow my dreams,” says McKinney, “and by the grace of God, He’s been getting me ready this whole time.”
Now positioned to become one of gospel music’s new bright lights, McKinney has spent much of the last six months working on a new record. “I’ve mostly been writing and recording in Nashville, where I've been living,” says McKinney who expects to release her debut full length later this year. “I know that my fans are saying I’m overdue to release something. But when it's time I know I’m going to have something that moves them.
“I really do hope people listen to [the record] and love it and get ready to dance to it and get ready for a breath of fresh air,” she says. “That’s what my music is about to be: a breath of fresh air.”
