Our Artist Spotlight for the month of March puts the spotlight on an artist that celebrates his birthday on March 1st...Canon! 

Aaron McCain, aka Canon, was born in Chicago and raised in Atlanta. At the age of 13, he was in a car accident. He walked away from that accident unharmed and he realized how fragile life is. At that point, he began to seek God and shortly after that used his rap talents to spread the message. While attending college at Bible College at Memphis, he met Derek Minor and Lecrae who began to mentor him. 

In 2009, he released his first mixtape, The Great Investment. The success of that first professional release quickly gained fans across the globe and he collaborated with Lecrae on Rehab: The Overdose and other projects from Reach Records. He then became label mates with Derek Minor at Reflection Music Group where he released his first EP, Loose Canon. 

In December of 2014 (just a few weeks after he got married), Canon fell down a ravine while trying to help a motorist. From that fall, he suffered a broken jaw, shattered ankle and concussion. In 2016, Canon returned to form with Loose Canon Vol.3 and showcases a winning attitude with his 2019 release, Whole Team Winning. 

He currently resides in Nashville with his wife, Ritz.
