LF Radio Artists are Dove Award Winners
Hulvey, Alex Jean, and Forrest Frank Take Major Honors at the 2025 Dove Awards
The 56th Annual GMA Dove Awards turned the spotlight this year on several standout names in Christian music, with LF Radio artists Hulvey, Alex Jean, and Forrest Frank emerging as key winners across genres, including the Christian hip hop space.
Hip Hop & Rap Honors
From the official winners list, “I Need Faith” by Alex Jean was named Rap/Hip Hop Recorded Song of the Year, which is considered a milestone win for the emerging artist.
Also, Hulvey’s album CRY was confirmed as Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year, recognizing his deeply personal and energetic approach to blending gospel themes with hip hop production.
Backstage after his win, Hulvey addressed the magnitude of the moment, opening his speech with reverence and reminding the audience of living with purpose:
“Glory to the Father.”
“Cause when He comes back, we’re gonna be held accountable for the way we loved each other.”
His words underscored that for him, accolades are more than trophies, and they reflect a responsibility to faith, community, and artistry.
Forrest Frank’s Breakthrough Night
While the Dove Awards often emphasize genre categories, Forrest Frank grabbed some of the evening’s most broadly watched honors.
-
He also took Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year for Child of God.
-
And his single “YOUR WAY’S BETTER” won Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year.
These wins reflect Frank’s rising crossover influence, blending pop, worship, and even hip hop influences in a style that resonates beyond typical Christian radio boundaries.
However, in the days leading up to the event, Frank announced that he would not attend or accept award trophies going forward, citing a personal conviction that he does not want to receive awards for what he considers a ministry of God’s work rather than his own.
In his statement, he explained:
“I will not receive a trophy for something that is from Jesus and for Jesus … The trophy is our salvation. The trophy is that my name is listed in the Book of Life.”
The decision has sparked discussion within the Christian music community about the role of awards, recognition, and the tension between artistry and worship.
