Background & Breakthrough

Born Victoria Loren Kelly on December 14, 1992, in Wildomar, California, Tori Kelly built her career from the ground up, first gaining attention through YouTube covers before appearing on American Idol in 2010. Though she didn’t win, the exposure helped launch a career defined by powerful vocals and genre versatility across pop, R&B, gospel, and soul.

She independently released early music before signing with Capitol Records, leading to her debut album Unbreakable Smile (2015), which debuted near the top of the Billboard charts and produced hits like “Nobody Love.” Her artistry expanded further with her 2018 gospel project Hiding Place, which earned her two Grammy Awards and solidified her presence in both mainstream and Christian music spaces.

Family Life & New Baby

Offstage, Kelly’s life has entered a new chapter. She married German professional basketball player André Murillo in 2018 after the couple began dating in 2016.

In November 2025, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Zayden Michael Murillo, marking a major milestone in Kelly’s personal life. She described the season as one filled with both personal and professional highs, balancing motherhood with a thriving music career.

The arrival of her son follows a challenging period in 2023 when Kelly was hospitalized with blood clots, a health scare she later said reshaped her perspective and deepened her gratitude for life and family.

Recent Music Successes

Kelly has remained musically active through every season of her life. Her 2023 EP Tori and 2024 full length album TORI. marked a creative resurgence, showcasing a more personal and sonically diverse direction influenced by early 2000s R&B and pop.

The project included singles like “Missin U,” “Cut,” and “Young Gun,” and reflected what Kelly described as some of the most personal songwriting of her career.

In addition to her solo work, she has continued collaborating across genres, including gospel and pop features, reinforcing her reputation as one of the most versatile vocalists of her generation.

Upcoming Live Shows & What’s Next

Kelly’s live presence remains a key part of her artistry. After joining Ed Sheeran on the European leg of his stadium tour in 2025, she is set to continue performing in 2026 as part of the Jesus Generation Tour alongside Forrest Frank and others.

These performances signal her continued connection to both mainstream and faith-based audiences, a balance that has defined much of her career.

A Career in Full Bloom

From viral YouTube beginnings to Grammy winning gospel records and global tours, Tori Kelly’s journey is one of resilience, faith, and artistic growth. Now stepping into motherhood while continuing to release new music and tour internationally, she stands in a unique season, where personal joy and professional momentum are unfolding side by side.
